Culinary Instructor & MSVA Certified Vegan Lifestyle Coach and Educator

Yes, PB & J stands for peanut butter and jelly…but for me, it represents my outlook on life and in the kitchen: PLANT-BASED JOY!

Plant-Based Joy has become my tag line or my motto, I guess you could say. Plants are a huge part of who I am today (yes, my cooking style), but they also metaphorically represent a positive change in my life – small seeds of knowledge allowed me to grow and blossom so that I, in turn, can now pass along “seeds” to others so that they can be empowered to also change for the better.

My name is Chris and first and foremost I am a wife and mom who has a passion for cooking AND teaching others how to cook. I greatly value the cultural connections that revolve around the preparation and partaking of food. My culinary skills have developed over the years, and I have to chuckle when I think back to the days when cooking for me meant opening a can of green beans to warm up in a pan and “shake ‘n bake” was my staple herb run when I ate meat. After dealing with years of gastrointestinal pain, being told TWICE by surgeons that I should have my gall bladder removed, suffering from debilitating migraines, watching family members suffer and die from colon cancer and heart disease, being diagnosed with genetically high cholesterol in my early 30’s, and then finally labeled with the “catch-all” diagnosis of Irritable Bowel Syndrome, I slowly began changing my way of eating until I was living a whole food, plant-based lifestyle. I was motivated to continue this path, since all of my dietary health issues were gone AND I was loving what I ate AND I was having great fun in the kitchen AND I loved sharing my cooking and nutrition knowledge with others. As a result, I am now helping others become the healthiest versions of themselves by taking the “scariness” and frustrations out of cooking.

    • By providing you with useful information but NOT overwhelming you.
    • By having you experiment and think outside the box regarding food choices.
    • By showing you it is not about what you CAN’T have…it’s about what you CAN HAVE.
    • By introducing you to easy techniques that you can use day-in and day-out in the kitchen.
